Heritage online is the Carlisle College LRC catalogue.
Access
You can access Heritage Online at http://heritage.carlisle.ac.uk/Heritage, or via a link on the College website or Discovery Space.
Reader Record
Although not necessary for book searches, the holders of 'Reader Record' accounts have use of more services. Obtaining an account is simple. Ask the LRC staff who will provide you with a 'Reader Number' and a' 4 Digit Pin'. Once you have these, you will be able to search our library catalogue; place reservations; access your own borrower record and renew items you have on loan.
Searching
Everyone can use this even if you don't have a 'Reader Record'. The box below provides a quick way to search the online catalogue, just type in your keyword/s and click the 'Go' image. If this does not ruturn any book lists you may want to try Heritage's search engine using the link above which provides choices for performing more advanced searches.

Advanced Searching
In Heritage you can refine your search by using the boolean operators (AND or AND NOT) or by using double quotes to indicate that you are looking for an exact phrase, not just each word separately. You can widen your search by using a single (?) or multiple character wild card (*), or another Boolean operator (OR).
For instance you can enter "War and Peace" (including the quotes) to search for the book by Tolstoy. Entering War AND Peace will find all records containing the words War and Peace separately but not necessarily as a phrase. Entering philo* will find items containing both philosophy and philosphical.
Select your display format and sort order using the options at the bottom of the screen. If you wish to scan a list of records and then look at one or two in further detail click the Brief radio button and then refine you display choice by selecting display fields from the drop down menu. If you want to go straight to the more detailed record, click the Full radio button and select the display fields from the drop down menu. Similarly you can choose your sort order for the results.
Click the Search button or press Enter to run your search or Clear to perform another search.
