Podcasts

The term 'podcast' is used to describe a piece of material which is available almost as a broadcast which can be subscribed to. The 'pod' refers to the boom that podcasts experienced with the iPod generation. Try watching 'Podcasts in Plain English' to find out more.

Podcasts can contain any material but their main use is in holding small chunks of audio or video, usually less than 20-30 minutes in length. These small episodes of information can be downloaded automatically using software such as iTunes or Winamp, and then either listened to on a computer or transferred to a portable device such as a mobile phone or MP3 player for playback while on the move.

A small amount of time may be needed to learn how to use software to record the audio or video. Why not try creating your own podcasts to use as revision materials later on in your studies.
